Maple Leaf Rag is another popular rag by Scott Joplin (1868-1917) who earned the name of “King of Ragtime" in the 1890’s and early 20th century with his dance style of ‘ragged’ melodies, stride bass and syncopations. Although popularity waned around 1920, a more recent revival has made rag and jazz a much sought after genre of entertainment by amateur and professional musicians.
