Order # W 20032
UPC: 7 77535 20032 7 Suggested Retail Price: $8.95 by G. A. Brescianello; Arranged by John Mills Note from John Mills: "Giuseppe Antonio Brescianello, in addition to being a composer of chamber music, also wrote a number of Sonatas and Partitas for the colascione, an instrument belonging to the lute family. The colascione originally had two or three strings, but by the early part of the 18th century the number of these strings had increased to six, tuned as followsL D, A, F, C, G D. This tuning with an interval of a third between strings two and three, the others being tuned a fourth apart, naturally makes these Sonatas and Partitas particularly suitable for performance on the modern-day classical guitar. As is common practice with music of the Baroque period, I have realized middle voices in a number of places, particularly the Entree, Menuetts 1& 2 and the Siciliana. However, the beautiful Gigue which concludes the Partita has been left, apart from a couple of measures as it appears in its original state." Publisher: Waterloo Music |
