Student's Basic Exercises for Piano Book 1

Suggested Retail Price: $10.95

By John Ferris Loth

Exercises for the fingering of triads in root position. This book will develop perfect evenness of touch and finger action. The notation has been kept as simple as possible; only the white keys are employed, and no marks of shading or dynamics have been inserted.

Book 1 develops the basic principle of all piano playing, i.e. placing five consecutive fingers over a span of five consecutive keys. This is generally known as "the five-finger position", or the First Basic Position, the fingers taking the position required required in playing the root positions of the triads.
