Composers: David Gordon Duke
David Gordon Duke is a composer, educator, and writer. He studied violin with Kenneth Yunke and Douglas Stewart and composition with Jean Coulthard and with Violet Archer.
He has taught at the University of North Carolina 1971-72, the University of British Columbia 1973-5, and Red Deer College (Alberta) 1975-77. He returned to Vancouver in 1978 to teach at Vancouver Community College, where he became academic co-ordinator in 1984. He has also acted as a critic, lecturer, adjudicator, and workshop contributor in various centres in Canada and the USA. Duke was a founding member of the Alberta Composers' Association; he is a member of the CLComp and an associate of the Canadian Music Centre. |
